Recommendation: Crossing the Line(2006)

To get a more objective view of DPR Korea, the BBC documentary Crossing the Line from 2006 is to recommend. In the documentary you are mostly following the James Dresnok who lives in the capital of DPR Korea Pyongyang, a US Defector who was stationed at the Korean Demilitarized Zone. One day in the late summer of 1962 he decided to make a run for the north, over the dangerous minefield of the Demilitarized Zone.

Today, he still lives in Pyongyang and during his time there he had both been an English teacher as well as a famous movie villain – sounds much more interesting than a life of unemployment and no other choices than the military in the USA.
